other possible engagement contributions

3.3.1. Initial Research Pathway

My research for the reader response began with an interest in how technology enhances safety and efficiency in construction. I explored reliable sources like XYZ Reality and The Engineer to understand the features and real-world applications of the XYZ Atom. I looked for articles that focused on augmented reality in construction and its impact on accuracy, safety, and workflow. I also used generative AI to help structure my arguments and refine my ideas. Prompting ChatGPT with questions about AR in construction helped clarify technical concepts, which made my writing more coherent and precise. This process deepened my understanding of tech-driven innovation.

3.3.2. Contributions to the Team

Reflecting on my contributions to the research project, I played a key role in both the planning and execution phases. I contributed to the initial topic discussions by documenting meeting minutes and expanding on the pros and cons of the ideas presented. I was also involved in drafting and refining the problem and purpose statements, using tools like ChatGPT to improve clarity and alignment with the ideal-gap-goal framework.

During the proposal writing stage, I took responsibility for the benefits and evaluation sections and helped ensure consistency in formatting and structure. For the oral presentation, I initially prepared slides on the benefits and challenges of our chosen technology, and eventually focused solely on presenting the challenges. I also led the conclusion drafting and made edits based on feedback from consultations and class clarifications. Through these tasks, I strengthened my communication, teamwork, and analytical skills while supporting the overall cohesion of our project.

3.3.3. Expected Participation Marks

Based on my engagement throughout the course, I believe my participation falls under the "Good (Proficient)" category. I was mostly punctual and have submitted all assignments on time. I regularly engaged in class activities, contributed to group discussions, and supported my team during the research project. I often asked questions or gave feedback when relevant, and I actively listened to my classmates’ ideas. While I may not have always contributed the most insightful responses, I demonstrated a strong willingness to learn and improve.

3.3.4. Oral Pitch

For the oral presentation, I presented on the potential challenges of adopting TimelySIT, an integrated calendar solution for daily use by students and faculties. Initially, I was also assigned to present the benefits, but after reviewing our presentation structure, we realised that the features, that is covered by another teammate, already conveys the main benefits. This led us to revise our parts to avoid repetition. I then focused solely on the challenges.

To prepare, I wrote a script and practiced it multiple times, which helped me internalise the key points and present them confidently. This experience taught me the value of adaptability, preparation, and clear communication during a team presentation.

3.3.5. Responding to Questions

Responding to questions during the course and research project helped deepen my understanding of the material. It encouraged me to think critically, clarify concepts, and express my thoughts more clearly. There were times where I struggled to answer on the spot, but these moments pushed me to review the content more thoroughly and anticipate possible questions.

During the project, addressing queries about our proposal improved my confidence and showed me how important it is to truly understand what we present, not just memorise or repeat information. Additionally, it reflected how well I knew the topic, beyond just surface-level knowledge.
